Michel Martineau

Experience:

Michel holds a degree in business administration and has been with Desjardins Group since 1996. He began his career working directly with clients as a property and casualty insurance agent and a claims advisor. His first management role came in 2001 when he was named Sales Manager for the DGIG Client Relation Centre.

Over the years, Michel has occupied various management positions, mainly in operations in claims and sales. He's overseen the development of business units in a range of environments, including client relation centres, claims operations and the caisse network (Desjardins financial services locations).

Michel played a key role in planning and integrating State Farm's Canadian claims activities into Desjardins Group in 2015. He also led the nationalization of the home and auto claims operations.

In 2016, Michel took the opportunity to build on his vast experience by becoming the head of a major Canada-wide operational group as Vice-President, Claims for DGIG. His responsibilities included sound claims management, operational performance and client experience, with 200 managers and 2,800 employees reporting to him. What's more, he supervised the transformation of bodily injury operations outside Quebec, the simplification of home and auto processes as well as the digital shift in Claims. Michel has been a key player in property and casualty insurance for 27 years.

In the spring of 2023, Michel took on a new challenge as Vice-President, Individual Insurance in the Wealth Management and Life and Health Insurance Executive Division.

He's known for his diligence and unifying, people-focused leadership that delivers concrete action and results.
